On 25 April 2024, after years of investigation, the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt am Main imposed a fine of EUR 100 million on Continental AG in connection with the diesel emissions affair. Continental has stated that it will not contest the fine.

Raue provided regulatory advice to Continental AG in these proceedings. The advice concerned fundamental questions of compliance with emissions standards, in particular with regard to unauthorised defeat devices. In particular, Raue examined whether individual vehicle components constitute unauthorised defeat devices. Raue worked together with Knauer and Skadden Arps Meagher & Flom, who advise Continental AG on criminal and compliance law.
