The first Kia automotive plant opened in Kazakhstan
The new Kia Qazaqstan automotive plant opened in Kostanay city. Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the opening via teleconference. The plant is already producing Kia Sorento, and by the end of the year, is expected to produce the restyled Kia Sportage and new models, including Kia Soluto. Production is carried out using CKD and DKD technologies.
Kazakhstan toughens rules on importing vehicles
From October 20, amendments to the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union “On the safety of wheeled vehicles” came into force. Individuals can no longer import certain types of used equipment and buses to Kazakhstan. This right is retained by legal entities and individual entrepreneurs having a Certificate of Vehicle Construction Safety (SBKTS) valid in Kazakhstan and the EAEU.
Import of electric cars in Kazakhstan: mandatory customs duty
According to the Decision No. 130 of the Customs Union Commission dated 27 November 2009, electric vehicles are exempt from import customs duties. A quota of 15,000 electric cars has been set for preferential import in 2025, which was fully used as of October 14.
Automotive components production launched in Kostanay city
The plant in Kostanay city will produce cast-iron products for the automotive industry, in particular castings for engines and main drive axles. Leading global manufacturers supplied the production equipment for the plant, and the company 100 TONN.KZ was responsible for its installation.
Geely Coolray and Emgrand will launch production in Kazakhstan
Orbis Kazakhstan is building the Orbis Manufacturing plant in the industrial zone of Almaty city, where it is planned to produce Geely Coolray and Emgrand cars by 2027 under an agreement with Geely Automobile International Corporation. Production of these models will be organized using CKD technology.
Akimat of Almaty city signed an agreement with Xianghe Zichen Auto Parts
The agreement was signed in Almaty city between Akimat of Almaty city and Chinese company Xianghe Zichen Auto Parts on the launch of production of brake systems for passenger cars. The investments volume is about 100 million US dollars, and the products will be exported to the USA, Canada, South Korea and Asian countries.
