Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, is expanding its global Investment Funds team with the hire of Mariana Baptista, based in the firm's Singapore office.

Mariana advises on a broad range of multi-jurisdictional transactions, with a particular focus on fund formation, structuring, and the exit and disposal of investments. She has extensive experience advising private fund sponsors on cross-border corporate, asset management, and regulatory matters across key sectors including private equity, credit, real estate, and infrastructure.

Before joining Mourant, Mariana worked at Patria Investments in both New York and the Cayman Islands, GLP Capital Partners in Singapore, and Gávea Investments in Brazil.

Commenting on her appointment, Mourant's Singapore Managing Partner, Craig Luton, said:

"It's a pleasure to welcome Mariana to our team. Her appointment demonstrates our firm's commitment to hiring top talent and will significantly strengthen our global Investment Funds capabilities from our Singapore office."

Mariana added:

"I’m excited to join Mourant and contribute to the continued growth of the firm's top tier Funds practice. Mourant's global platform and collaborative culture provide an excellent opportunity to support clients on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters and help drive innovation in the funds space."

Mourant opened its Singapore office in 2023, and entered the Legal 500 Asia-Pacific ranking tables in its first year of operation.

In 2024, Mourant Governance Services Singapore was launched, complementing the firm's legal practice and bolstering its presence in the region by offering a comprehensive range of incorporation, company secretarial, board support and fiduciary services to Singapore, Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands entities.
