Hong Kong, 9 March 2018: Boase Cohen & Collins’ proud record of service to the Mission for Migrant Workers for more than three decades has been marked with a special plaque presentation.
Board members and staff from the Mission visited BC&C’s offices to thank Senior Partner Colin Cohen and Consultant Melville Boase, co-founders of the firm in 1985, and their colleagues.
“For the past 33 years, Boase Cohen & Collins has always been there for us, assisting not just with the handling of cases but also dealing with personal matters and many other issues concerning the Mission and migrant workers. We are happy to have the firm as such an integral part of our history,” said Cynthia Tellez, General Manager of the Mission.
Ms Tellez and the Very Reverend Matthias Tse-Wo Der, Dean of St John’s Cathedral and a member of the Mission Board, presented a commemorative plaque to Mr Cohen and Mr Boase inscribed with the words: “In celebration of our partnership in serving migrants in Hong Kong since 1985.” Mr Boase, who has been Honorary Treasurer of the Mission since it was formed in 1981, was presented with a second plaque to honour his long service.
Mr Cohen commented: “We are truly humbled to be recognised in this way by the Mission for Migrant Workers. It has always been the culture of our firm to help those most in need and the Mission does an outstanding job in representing and protecting overseas workers. We see our close relationship as a way of giving back to the community and long may this continue.”
The Mission is the longest existing independent service provider for migrants in Hong Kong and is an outreach programme of St John’s Cathedral in Central, where it is based. As an indication of recognition for its expertise and work, it is invited for consultations by Hong Kong government agencies and consulates of different countries on migration and related themes. Fiscal support for the Mission comes from churches, individuals and foundations.
