Miranda & Amado announces the strategic strengthening of its White-Collar Crime Practice, as part of a long-term vision aimed at consolidating a robust, specialized corporate criminal law practice with full-scope capabilities to handle highly complex mandates in an increasingly demanding regulatory and compliance environment.
In line with this strategy, the firm has appointed Alfonso Sánchez as Partner, Adriana Tagle as Counsel, and María Fernanda Gutiérrez and Luis Arauzo as Associates, thereby expanding its capacity to deliver comprehensive corporate criminal advice, with a strong focus on prevention, compliance, and defense in corporate criminal investigations and proceedings.
With more than 32 years of professional experience, Alfonso Sánchez brings extensive expertise in criminal law, with a specialization in procedural and constitutional criminal law, as well as in advisory work, criminal risk prevention, regulatory compliance and complex criminal litigation. He has represented companies and senior executives in criminal matters arising from corporate activity and also contributes significant public sector experience, having served for ten years at the Office of the Public Prosecutor (Ministerio Público – Fiscalía de la Nación).
“The strengthening of our White-Collar Crime Practice seeks to consolidate an integrated approach that combines criminal litigation experience, in-depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape and a solid preventive perspective,” said José Luis Velarde, Partner of Miranda & Amado’s White-Collar Crime Practice.
This reinforcement is further complemented by Adriana Tagle, whose practice focuses on economic and corporate criminal law, with an emphasis on complex criminal investigations and litigation, as well as preventive advisory work and criminal compliance. She has experience representing companies and senior executives and in the implementation of compliance programs and criminal risk management frameworks.
The team is further strengthened by Associates María Fernanda Gutiérrez and Luis Arauzo. María Fernanda brings experience in criminal law and criminal procedure, as well as in advising on criminal compliance matters. Her practice includes advising on and representing clients in criminal consultations, investigations and proceedings, particularly in matters related to economic and corporate crimes. Luis, in turn, has more than 20 years of professional experience in criminal law and criminal procedure, with broad experience in criminal advisory work and litigation, both during his early career at the Public Prosecutor’s Office and in private practice.
“The strengthening of our White-Collar Crime Practice responds to a strategic decision by the firm, aligned with our clients’ current needs, allowing us to offer a more robust and integrated response to the criminal risks companies face today, both in contentious matters and in risk prevention and management,” commented Mauricio Raffo, Managing Partner of Miranda & Amado.
Through this strategic reinforcement, Miranda & Amado reaffirms its commitment to the development of key practices and to maintaining a White-Collar Crime team fully equipped to support clients in increasingly complex corporate criminal scenarios, combining technical rigor with a comprehensive business-oriented perspective.
