On October 21, 2024, Asian Legal Business (“ALB”) announced their China Top 15 Female Lawyers list for 2024. JunHe partner LIAN, Jing made the list.
Ms. Lian has extensive experience in bankruptcy reorganization, out-of-court debt restructuring and non-performing asset disposal and is capable to advise administrators (liquidation groups), creditors, creditors' committees, debtors, and reorganization investors. She provides legal services for mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investments and construction projects in the energy sector and is adept at resolving various disputes and controversies that arise during the project implementation. Ms. Lian’s rich experience in the legal sector enables her to address key and difficult issues accurately and properly in each project from multiple dimensions and perspectives. In recent years, she has led or handled many high-profile cases, including the reorganization of Yanggu Xiangguang Copper Co., Ltd. and 18 other companies, the reorganization of Hengkang Medical, and the joint venture among North Huajin, SAAC and Panjin Xincheng in respect of a fine chemicals and raw material engineering project.
In an interview, Ms. Lian referred to the reorganization of large comprehensive enterprises. She believed that to achieve a balance of interests, it was necessary to act in accordance with the law, ensure fairness and information transparency, and take a holistic approach. As many stakeholders were involved in the bankruptcy reorganization of large comprehensive enterprises and they had different standpoints and demands, sharp and complex conflicts of interest may arise during the bankruptcy reorganization. Ms. Lian believed that it was essential to adhere to the basic principles of legal compliance and fairness during the reorganization, and that information transparency was a prerequisite for satisfying stakeholders' demands and a holistic approach was the basic means to achieve a balance of interests. She also emphasized that a holistic approach did not mean that all stakeholders' demands could be met. Instead, the demands of all parties should be considered and priorities should be given to equal protection and social interests, so as to balance the interests of all parties and maximize benefits as much as possible.
In addition to being an expert in bankruptcy reorganization and mergers and acquisitions, Ms. Lian is also a gentle family member. People often focus on the challenges female lawyers face in their career and how they seek balance between work and life. Ms. Lian has shared her own opinions, that is giving it your all! She said, "I must admit there is no perfect solution. What I can do is to give my all, no matter which role I play."
