HOUSTON – Four of AZA’s lawyers in the Houston and Dallas offices were named as 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers.

John Zavitsanos, an AZA co-founder, is a repeat honoree for his expertise in commercial litigation, intellectual property and securities. His trial work, like that of the other AZA lawyers named, includes cases on both plaintiff and defense sides of the bar.

Others named for this honor were Houston office lawyers Joe Ahmad, also a firm co-founder, and Kevin Leyendecker, both for their expertise in commercial litigation. In AZA’s Dallas office, Kyle Poelker was named for his commercial litigation work.

Lawdragon states that “These amazing advocates find pathways to justice for investors who have been defrauded, companies who have been blocked from fair competition and consumers who have been duped, hornswoggled and otherwise had their rights trampled on.”

At AZA, lawyers work both sides of the courtroom and wind up expertly filing and defending against such lawsuits.

AZA, or Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Mensing, is a Houston-based law firm that is home to true courtroom lawyers with a formidable track record in complex commercial litigation, including energy, healthcare, intellectual property and business dispute cases. AZA was recognized again by Chambers USA 2025 as among the best in Texas in commercial law and intellectual property; the firm has been listed by Best Lawyers’ Best Law Firms as one of the country’s best commercial litigation firms for 13 years; has been named Litigation Department of the Year by Texas Lawyer three times; and was dubbed a Texas Powerhouse law firm by Law360.
