Madrid, 10 February 2026 — ECIJA continues its growth trajectory with the launch of a Legal Operations team, conceived as a structural lever to transform the legal function and align it more closely with business priorities. The initiative is integrated into ECIJA Tech, a globally-oriented division serving clients operating across multiple jurisdictions, and strengthens the firm’s ability to deliver end-to-end transformation projects.
This addition also forms part of the recent restructuring of the division, which included the acquisition of Nimerya, a consultancy specialized in digital transformation, and has resulted in a new technology structure built around three coordinated pillars:
Legaltech, Digital Services, and Crypto. Each pillar will operate with its own identity while sharing a unified vision, providing ECIJA with a differentiated value proposition in the legal and technology market.
The launch follows a clear roadmap aligned with ECIJA’s ambition to build a more integrated, operational, and scalable legal services delivery model. To this end, ECIJA welcomes a Legal Operations team from PwC, led by Rocío Catalá, whose arrival represents a significant strategic step in the development of the firm’s transformation practice. This move will substantially expand the firm’s service offering, strengthen its operational capabilities, and enable access to new clients and projects with an even more comprehensive and differentiated proposition. It is a step that further consolidates ECIJA’s leadership as a leading firm in the digital economy.
The new team also includes Sara de Pablo, who joins as Principal of the practice, and Marta de Arespacochaga, who joins as Associate. The team brings extensive experience in end-to-end transformation projects for legal departments of major national and international corporations, combining operational diagnostics, process redesign, definition of metrics and KPIs, technology implementation, automation, and change management.
ECIJA’s Legal Operations practice is designed to address the new challenges facing legal departments: cost pressures, the need to standardize and scale operations, greater traceability, and the accelerated adoption of technology. All of this is delivered through a practical, impact-driven approach with real execution capability in multi-jurisdictional environments.
ECIJA’s technology division has spent nearly a decade supporting the transformation and digitalization of legal departments at large corporations, combining legal expertise with consulting capabilities to optimize processes, support decision-making, and generate tangible value for global clients. This integrated approach has enabled ECIJA to establish itself as a benchmark in legal transformation, earning international recognition such as Band 1 in NewLaw – Legal Transformation Consulting by Chambers and Partners, and advancing a market vision that brings law and technology together within a single team.
According to Alejandro Touriño, Managing Partner of ECIJA:
“Legal departments are undergoing a profound transformation. Technical excellence alone is no longer sufficient; it is essential to help design and execute more efficient, technology-driven operating models that are ready to scale. With the launch of our Legal Operations area, we strengthen one of the key pillars of our firm’s model.”
Rocío Catalá adds:
“We are truly excited to join ECIJA and become part of a firm that is a leader in legal transformation. Through Legal Operations, we aim to contribute to a global proposition that combines strategy, operations, and technology to help legal departments evolve their models with real and sustainable business impact.”
With this launch, ECIJA strengthens its position as a leading firm in the transformation of the legal function, integrating Legal Operations as a central element of its value proposition and reinforcing its leadership in the new generation of high-value legal services.
