DMK Abogados is pleased to announce the entry of two new partners with a view to strengthening and expanding its corporate, litigation, and labor practices.
Félix Fernández Peña joins the firm as a multidisciplinary partner, reinforcing the practices of conflict resolution, civil, commercial and criminal; and Corporate and Mercantile Restructuring. He has more than 20 years of experience in legal practice, having worked for more than 10 years in two of the leading law firms in the country, representing both national and international clients in civil and law matters. commercial, labor law and social security, corporate law, maritime and aeronautical law, administrative law and regulated sectors, general criminal law and electronic crimes, insurance, banking, arbitration, and litigation in general.
He has advised international companies in their establishment and start of operations in the Dominican Republic and regularly advises clients on labor matters, due diligence processes, corporate governance, and adaptation of multinational regulations according to the Dominican legal framework.
He was part of the drafting team of the Draft Law of Maritime Commerce of the Dominican Republic.
Félix has been recognized by The Legal 500 directory in 2021 among Litigation attorneys and recognized as a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation in 2019 and 2020.
Iván García Elsevyf rejoins the firm as partner and co-leader of the Dispute Resolution Department. He has over 15 years of experience as a lawyer, focusing on civil, commercial, labor, and real estate litigation. He has represented local and international clients in the areas of tourism, health, construction, sports, airlines, and others.
Before rejoining DMK Abogados where he was a senior attorney from 2011 to 2014, Iván led the litigation team of a Dominican law firm and led the legal department of a well-known local pharmaceutical company.
Some of his most recent cases include successful representation of a tourism project in lawsuits from alleged owners of the land on which the project is being developed; successful representation of a clinic and medical group in claims to repair damages for construction defects; defense of airlines and hotels on the occasion of lawsuits filed by clients and employees; successful representation of a lessor investor in claims for termination of the contract and repair of damages, on the occasion of the installation of a natural gas pump, not authorized by the owner and without the proper governmental authorizations; among others.
