The Supreme Court on 25 March 2026 stayed auction scheduled for 12 noon the same day in a plea moved by HDFC Bank against an order of the Allahabad High Court.
The case, HDFC Bank Ltd. v. State of Uttar Pradesh & Ors., SLP (C) No. 11285 of 2026, arises out of the High Court’s order dated 20.03.2026 in Writ-C No. 9477 of 2026.
The dispute concerns the rights of secured creditors and interplay between SARFAESI Act and the State Land Revenue Code on the point of statutory precedence in recovery of dues. When the matter was taken up, the top court granted interim relief and stayed the auction scheduled for later in the day.
