Aird & Berlis is pleased to announce that Dasha Peregoudova, an associate and member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Workplace Law Groups, has been appointed as the Ombudsperson for Team Canada for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In this exciting role, Dasha will provide counsel to members of Team Canada during the Games to help them resolve issues and disputes so that they can focus on their sport and perform to their full ability. Additionally, should the need arise, Dasha will represent Team Canada members at hearings before various authorities, such as the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
As the past President of AthletesCAN (the Association of Canadian National Team Athletes), Ombudsperson for the 2019 Pan American Games, member of the Panam Sport Legal Commission, and former Canadian national team athlete and two-time Pan American champion in taekwondo, Dasha has the experience to understand what the athletes are going through. Additionally, her legal expertise provides her with the ability to resolve conflicts quickly and effectively.
“The Canadian Olympic Committee is excited to have Dasha join Team Canada’s Mission Team in the role of Ombudsperson for the Tokyo Games” said Eric Myles, Chief Sport Officer, Canadian Olympic Committee. “Her experience as AthletesCAN President and her perspective as a retired national team athlete is invaluable to our organization. The strong relationships she has built over the years with the sport community, including Tokyo 2020 hopefuls, is one of the many assets she will bring to the team.”
