BUSTAMANTE FABARA represented MITSUI & CO. LTD. ("Mitsui"), a leading global Japanese company specializing in strategic investments, in the acquisition of a minority stake in Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila S.A. ("Santa Priscila"), the world´s largest shrimp farm. The transaction is subject to the corresponding regulatory approvals and is expected to be complet ed by the end of March 2024.
Founded in Ecuador in 1976, Santa Priscila is the world's largest shrimp farming company, currently employing approximately 16,000 individuals. Mitsui is a multinational company engaged in trade and strategic investments, with interests spanning mineral and metallic resources, infrastructure projects, energy, food, communications, and corporate development. Mitsui operates 140 offices in 65 countries and regularly engages in multilateral and cross border business endeavors.
This transaction marks a milestone in the country's aquaculture market.
