Law firm Bondoc & Asociații has advised the Garanti BBVA Group in relation to Romanian law aspects relevant to the full sale of its operations in Romania to Raiffeisen Bank International, in a significant transaction valued at over EUR 590 million, marking an important milestone in the consolidation of the Romanian banking sector. This transaction reflects the ongoing consolidation trend in the Romanian banking market and the sustained interest of strategic investors in the local financial sector.
The transaction involved the transfer of the entire Garanti BBVA Romania group, including the bank, the leasing company and other affiliated entities to Raiffeisen Bank International, thereby strengthening its position in the local market. Completion of the sale is subject to obtaining regulatory approvals from the relevant authorities and is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2026.
