BLOMSTEIN assisted French listed investment company IDI on German foreign direct investment control aspects relating the acquisition of a majority stake in radar technology specialist Intersoft Electronics Group (IE). The transaction was carried out as a secondary leveraged buyout in close partnership with the existing management team.
The IE Group (comprising Intersoft Electronics, Intersoft Services, and Advionics) is a Belgium-based provider of radar technology and surveillance system solutions. Founded in 1983, the group specialises in the design, production, and deployment of pioneering radar systems and components for a distinguished international client base including Eurocontrol, Raytheon, Thales, and Hensoldt. Serving both civil and defence sectors, the group has experienced substantial growth in recent years, generating revenues exceeding €60 million and employing nearly 400 professionals.
The deal aligns with IE’s international growth strategy and reflects IDI’s focus on fostering high-potential industrial businesses in Europe.
