Beccar Varela advised GDM (Grupo Don Mario) on the closing of the acquisition of KWS's corn and sorghum business in South America. Following the successful approval by the Brazilian competition authority (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica- CADE), the formal integration process of KWS's corn assets in South America has begun. The parties agreed not to disclose the details of the transaction or the exact amount of the purchase price.

 

The transaction includes the breeding and sale of corn and sorghum in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, as well as corn and sorghum production sites in Brazil and corn in Argentina, including nearly 1,600 employees.

 

Beccar Varela advised GDM as deal counsel with a team led by Partner Pedro Silvestri and senior associate Mercedes Pando, working closely with the Cescon Barrieu team (Brazil), which included partner Matheus Bittencourt Fernandes and associate Matheus Gomes do Nascimento. Beccar Varela also advised GDM in the filing of the transaction before the Argentine Antitrust Authority (Comisión Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia – CNDC).
