Hong Kong, 19 April 2018: Boase Cohen & Collins’ commitment to serving the community has once again received official recognition, this time from the Hong Kong Government.
The firm and four of its most prominent lawyers have been honoured under the Home Affairs Bureau’s Recognition Scheme for Provision of Pro Bono Legal Services.
Senior Partner Colin Cohen, Partners Alex Liu and Lisa Wong and Consultant Melville Boase each received Special Awards – the highest level of individual achievement – while the firm was collectively commended in the Companies’ Awards category.
“Since Boase Cohen & Collins was established in 1985 we have always striven to work for the community and support worthy causes. These latest awards underscore our commitment to serving those less fortunate and utilising our experience for the common good,” said Mr Cohen.
Tuesday’s Awards Presentation Ceremony was held at Central Government Offices in Tamar. Among the senior Government figures attending was the Secretary for Home Affairs, Lau Kong-wah, who expressed his “heartfelt gratitude” to all legal professionals who had provided pro bono services.
Prior to recognition under the biennial Home Affairs Bureau scheme, BC&C also received a string of awards last December in the Law Society of Hong Kong’s annual Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Programme. Last month, the firm was honoured with a plaque presentation from the Mission for Migrant Workers to mark more than three decades of service to the non-profit organisation.
