Hong Kong, 10 September 2018: Colin Cohen has paid tribute to “a huge team effort” after Boase Cohen & Collins was named Dispute Resolution Boutique Law Firm of the Year at the Asian Legal Business Hong Kong Law Awards.
BC&C prevailed amid intense competition from six other short-listed firms to land the trophy in front of a packed audience at the prize-giving Gala Dinner at the Conrad Hotel.
“On behalf of the Partners, may I offer my sincere thanks to all at Boase Cohen & Collins for making this happen. Winning a prestigious award such as this requires a huge team effort and everyone in the firm has played a part,” said Mr Cohen, the Senior Partner.
“These are the most prestigious awards in the Hong Kong legal profession with an independent judging panel comprising senior and expert industry leaders from various sectors. To be recognised by our peers in this way is most gratifying and humbling.
“As well, we were shortlisted in the Criminal Litigation, Matrimonial and Family Law, and Corporate Citizenship categories. Taken as a whole, this is our best performance to date in the Hong Kong Law Awards and shows that our firm, now in its fourth decade, is going from strength to strength.”
BC&C Partner Fiona Chan, together with colleagues Alice Cabrelli, Allison Lee, Wendy Kwan and Willa Wong, attended the Gala Dinner and received the trophy on behalf of the firm.
Among the key works presented by Boase Cohen & Collins in its winning submission was the firm’s action in securing a judicial review in a public interest case regarding access to Hong Kong’s famed waterfront. The case went all the way to the Court of Final Appeal and resulted in a historic ruling which established the legal principles governing protective costs orders.
The Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2018 were presented by Asian Legal Business magazine. The Gala Dinner featured legal industry heavyweights gathering to pay tribute to the outstanding performance of private practitioners and in-house teams from Hong Kong and the region.
