Hong Kong, 15 May 2017: Boase Cohen & Collins was strongly represented as the Law Society of Hong Kong marked its 110th anniversary with a grand celebration dinner.

Some 1,200 guests attended the event, staged at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, including the Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma and the Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen.

“The Law Society is the central pillar of Hong Kong’s legal profession, upholding the rule of law in Hong Kong, representing the interests of solicitors, promoting high standards of legal practice, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, codes and regulations and serving the community as a whole,” said BC&C Partner Alex Liu, who led a 12-strong party from the firm.

“Therefore, we were honoured to be present at this landmark dinner and to actively support the Law Society’s 110th jubilee celebrations.”

The dinner was preceded by a day-long conference organised by the Law Society to discuss China’s ambitious and far-reaching Belt and Road initiative, which seeks to usher in a new era of global economic development.

Entitled “The Belt and Road: A Catalyst for Connectivity, Convergence and Collaboration”, the conference was designed to look at the project from a legal perspective and examine how lawyers have an opportunity to play an integral role in its success. BC&C Partner Susan Cheung and colleague Stephanie Lai attended on behalf of the firm.
