Mexico City – September 6th, 2018.- Basham, Ringe y Correa, through its antitrust team represented by the partner Amilcar Peredo, was in charge of making the pre-merger filing with Mexico's Competition Commission and has obtained clearance by such authority on behalf of BASF.

Bayer agreed to sell these assets to BASF in order to obtain approval for buying Monsanto. This divestiture is the largest antitrust related sell-off ever, according to the Justice Department. The operation involves different jurisdictions, such as the European Commission, United States, Mexico, Brazil, China, Australia, among others.

It is important to mention that Mexico's Competition Commission cleared the Bayer-Monsanto transaction the same day it cleared the Bayer-BASF transaction

Other legal firms involved: Freshfields, Bruckhaus and Deringer coordinated the filings worldwide on behalf of BASF and Sullivan & Cromwell coordinated the filings worldwide on behalf of Bayer.

The last part of the transaction closed on August 16th, 2018.
