HOUSTON – AZA partners Warren McCarty and Jason McManis were selected to Benchmark Litigation’s 2026 40 & Under list, which honors the next generation of trial attorneys shaping the profession.
Benchmark Litigation each year publishes the 40 & Under List, which recognizes the “best and brightest litigators across the U.S.”
Mr. McManis, head of AZA’s Chambers-recognized IP practice group, has an impressive track record of taking on some of the largest companies in the world and securing some of the largest plaintiff’s jury verdicts in the country, including more than $1 billion in patent infringement verdicts against Apple, a $62.65 million verdict against United Healthcare and a nearly $9 million verdict for a client protecting its trade secrets. His verdicts have been recognized in the Texas Lawyer Verdicts Hall of Fame and among the Top 100 verdicts in the country.
In 2025, Mr. McCarty served as co-lead counsel with Mr. McManis in a trial which resulted in a $78.5 million patent infringement verdict against Samsung.
The managing partner of the AZA Dallas office, Mr. McCarty has served as counsel in technology-related cases resulting in verdicts and settlements of more than $2.5 billion since 2015. In 2024 alone, he tried and won three patent lawsuits as lead counsel or trial counsel, helping clients secure combined verdicts encompassing more than $93 million in unpaid royalties. He is lead counsel to international technology manufacturer Acer in three high-stakes patent infringement lawsuits against major U.S. wireless carriers AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile USA.
