Yassin joins at a time of increased demand for sophisticated, high-value disputes counsel in Tanzania and across East Africa and brings extensive experience in complex domestic and cross-border litigation and arbitration. His appointment embodies ALN’s strategic focus on building a top-tier, regionally integrated disputes practice that handles the most complex matters in the market.
Yassin is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and a certified arbitrator, with experience spanning both private practice and in-house advisory roles. He has advised multinational corporations, financial institutions, international investors and SMEs on a range of commercial, regulatory and tax-related disputes.
Importantly, the appointment further strengthens ALN’s ability to deliver seamless, multi-jurisdictional disputes services in Tanzania and across East Africa, combining deep local expertise and international experience with a fully integrated regional platform. This capability remains a key differentiator in a market where clients increasingly require coordinated teams to manage disputes with significant financial, operational, and reputational implications.
Geofrey Dimoso, Country Partner, ALN Tanzania, comments: “Yassin’s appointment significantly strengthens our ability to handle complex, high-value disputes in Tanzania and across the region. Clients are increasingly facing matters involving regulatory intervention and cross-border enforcement. Yassin brings the depth of experience and commercial judgement required to navigate these challenges and deliver outcomes that are both legally robust and commercially strategic.”
Speaking on his appointment, Yassin Maka says: “I am delighted to join ALN Tanzania at a time when the disputes landscape in Tanzania and across East Africa is becoming increasingly complex and high stakes. ALN Tanzania’s deep local knowledge, combined with ALN’s broader regional expertise and collaborative model, uniquely positions the firm to support clients on key domestic and multi-jurisdictional disputes. I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of a practice that is already well-recognised for handling sophisticated and high-value disputes.”
Karim Anjarwalla, Board Director, ALN, adds: “Yassin’s appointment underscores ALN’s continued investment in building one of the leading independent disputes practices in Africa. As disputes across the continent become more complex, cross-border and strategically significant, clients require advisors who can provide consistent, high-quality counsel across jurisdictions. Strengthening our capability in key markets such as Tanzania is central to that ambition.”
Aisha Abdallah, Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution, ALN Kenya, comments: “Yassin’s appointment reinforces our ability to act on high-value, cross-border disputes across East Africa, particularly those involving complex regulatory and enforcement dynamics. As clients increasingly face bet-the-company litigation and arbitration exposures, the ability to deploy integrated teams across jurisdictions is critical. ALN’s platform is designed to deliver exactly that, coordinated, strategic disputes counsel across key African markets.”
