This collaboration represents an evolution in how law firms engage with the country’s technological development, contributing their expertise in intellectual property, corporate advisory, and legal structuring to support scientific and technological ventures with high-impact potential.

Know Hub is a non-profit organization that connects key players in the innovation ecosystem to transform research outcomes into products and services—in other words, into innovation. It emerged from public policy efforts to transition Chile into a knowledge-based economy and society. Know Hub currently includes eight partner universities and three research centers or institutes.

Know Hub Ignition, now in its fifth edition, is a startup acceleration program open until May 21. Its goal is to fast-track science and technology-based startups toward the market, providing them with tools, mentorship, and key networks for growth. In this context, the inclusion of Alessandri Abogados strengthens the program’s legal component, offering critical support during a pivotal stage in the entrepreneurial journey.

Alessandri’s entry into the innovation ecosystem is a major step that shows how different disciplines can work together to boost tech entrepreneurship in Chile. With over a century of experience and prestige, Alessandri brings invaluable legal backing to entrepreneurs. Having proper legal support from the outset can make all the difference in a project’s success and sustainability”, says Javier Ramírez, Executive Director of Know Hub Chile.

This alliance with Know Hub Chile is a great opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the country’s innovation ecosystem. As a key player in the science, technology, knowledge, and innovation (STKI) sector, Know Hub accelerates the transformation of knowledge into high-impact solutions. Our involvement as strategic collaborators strengthens the link between universities, research centers, startups, industry, and the public sector. In doing so, we help energize the national ecosystem and boost technology transfer with tangible benefits for Chilean society”, adds Santiago Ortúzar, Partner at Alessandri.

Matías Saavedra, PhD in Engineering Sciences at Alessandri, notes: “Turning innovation into viable businesses, whether corporately, entrepreneurially, or through tech transfer, is a complex, multidimensional process that requires interaction across various technical fields. The technical capabilities needed for science and technology-based ventures are often scattered throughout the ecosystem, provided by isolated actors with limited coordination. This makes information flow difficult and decision-making more complex. Collaborations like this one create synergies, open new spaces, and unlock new opportunities.

With this alliance, Know Hub Chile reaffirms its role as a key enabler in the science, technology, knowledge, and innovation (STKI) ecosystem. As a co-implementer of public policies aiming to turn Chile into a knowledge society, the organization drives initiatives that strengthen connections among universities, research centers, startups, industry, and the public sector. The incorporation of Alessandri Abogados is yet another example of how Know Hub integrates strategic actors to energize the national ecosystem and enhance technology transfer with real impact on society.
