WASHINGTON, DC – Adduci Mastriani & Schaumberg LLP (AMS) announces the selection of a new managing partner beginning in 2020 – the first change in leadership since its founding in 1981.

Former ITC Chairman, Commissioner and AMS Executive Committee partner Deanna Tanner Okun will assume the role of managing partner in January from Jim Adduci, founder and managing partner since 1981.  Mr. Adduci will remain on the firm’s Executive Committee, along with Lou Mastriani and Tom Schaumberg.

Jim Adduci said, “After nearly 40 years as the firm’s managing partner, I think it is time to pass the baton to a new generation, under the leadership of Deanna Okun as managing partner. Deanna is an outstanding attorney with a great deal of management experience, including her two terms as ITC Chairman, and is a star in the international trade world.”

As Managing Partner, Okun will lead the firm’s strategic initiatives and oversee its day-to-day operations, while continuing her active practice providing legal and strategic advice to companies facing theft of intellectual property, other unfair trade practices and a variety of regulatory hurdles.

Deanna Okun said, “I am honored by the trust placed in me to build on the founders’ vision and the firm’s historic success in providing specialized, expert trade advice to our clients.  I see tremendous opportunities for our talented and entrepreneurial attorneys to grow our practice at the intersection of intellectual property and international trade, as well as in other trade regulation areas.”

Okun’s extensive experience as a top administrator, regulator, enforcer, legislative aide, and practicing lawyer have been recognized by many organizations. She was named the Outstanding Woman of the Year by the Association of Women in International Trade. She has served on the Federal Circuit Advisory Council since 2013. In 2019, for the seventh consecutive year, Managing Intellectual Property named Okun one of the Top 250 Women in IP. In addition, she has given many speeches and authored important publications over the years.
