On 13 June 2026, lawyers from ACCRALAW Cebu Branch (ACCRALAW Cebu) provided legal assistance to more than one hundred sixty (160) residents of Barangay Bonbon, a hinterland village in Cebu City.

In partnership with the office of Cebu South District Councilor Mikel F. Rama and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu City Chapter, lawyers of ACCRALAW Cebu helped qualified beneficiaries in drafting of legal documents necessary in applications for delayed registration of birth, correction of entries in certificates of live birth, and other services being offered by the Office of the City Civil Registrar. These basic services have become inaccessible due to distance and lack of affordable legal services.

Participating lawyers of ACCRALAW Cebu likewise gave free legal advice to participating residents.

Apart from this, ACCRALAW Cebu Partner Louie John Lood and Senior Associates Therese Marie Amor and Shiela Vae Hoylar delivered lectures on the Katarungang Pambarangay under Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code, Republic Act No. 9262, otherwise known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004, and the laws governing administrative and judicial correction of entries before the civil registrar.

The event forms part of ACCRALAW’s corporate social responsibility efforts. ACCRALAW Cebu is set to launch legal aid activities to more far-flung barangays in Cebu, pursuant to the Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS), with the goal of making quality legal services more accessible to underserved communities.
