Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues is the new partner at Abreu Advogados. He reinforces the firm's Projects & Structured Finance team along with three new lawyers: João Lupi, Rui Ferreira de Almeida and Ashick Hussein Remetula.
With more than 25 years of experience, Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues is one of the most renowned lawyers in the projects’ areas and project finance, with an emphasis on the energy sector. His career also includes international law firms such as DLA Piper and Miranda. He is also a legal advisor to the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Renewable Energy Association and to the Board of Directors of ENERSIS (Babcock Group).
With a Law Degree by the Lisbon University Law School, Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues has a post-graduation in Tax Law by the same Law School and completed an Advanced Program in Public Private Partnerships for Executives at the Portuguese Catholic University Law School. The new partner at Abreu Advogados comes from TELLES, where he coordinated the Financial, Projects and Capital Markets practice area and co-coordinated the Energy and Natural Resources practice area.
Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues will strengthen the Projects & Structured Finance team at Abreu Advogados, together with two new Senior Associate Lawyers - João Lupi and Rui Ferreira de Almeida - and an Associate Lawyer - Ashick Hussein Remetula. The team is dedicated to providing strategic and multidisciplinary advisory - from financing, setting up joint ventures and other merger or cooperation and co-development agreements, to regulatory advice and possible dispute resolutions - on complex and large scale projects, namely in the development of high profile infrastructures in various jurisdictions, particularly in the transport, energy and health sectors. In this respect, Abreu Advogados has a unique track record in assisting developers, public administration, financial institutions and funds, including some of the largest national and international projects.

With Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues, Abreu Advogados also integrates three new lawyers: senior associate lawyers, João Lupi and Rui Ferreira de Almeida, and associate lawyer, Ashick Hussein Remetula.
João Lupi has a Law Degree from the Lisbon University Law School and a MA in Legal and Business Sciences from the Lisbon Nova University Law School. In addition to his career in law, João Lupi was a legal advisor and then Deputy Director at the BDK financial group. He has been

a relevant player in the work carried out in advising and providing strategic legal support in the area of Projects, Energy and Natural Resources, but also in Finance, M&A and Capital Markets, with leading companies in their areas of activity, financial entities and public authorities, in various types of transactions and in a wide range of markets and products, both from a transactional and regulatory point of view.
Rui Ferreira de Almeida has a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University, having then completed an LL.M in International Business Law, from the same faculty, and several courses in the areas of energy and natural resources regulation. In addition to practicing law, he was an advisor at the Cabinet of the Deputy Minister and Secretary of State for Energy of the XXII Constitutional Government, where he closely followed the energy and mining sectors in matters relating to the national and European markets. He has developed his activity in monitoring issues of special relevance on the international scene such as, among others, the renewable energy sector, hydrogen, gases of renewable origin and Power-to-X projects.
Ashick Hussein Remetula, graduated in Law from the Law Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University and then completed a post-graduation course in Corporate Finance and Aviation Law at the Law Faculty of the University of Lisbon. Prior to Law, he attended a degree in Management at the Catholic University of Portugal.
With Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues joining the firm, Abreu Advogados now counts 40 partners out of more than 200 lawyers.
