October will see the start of the sixth cycle of the postgraduate course "Art Market Management", organised by the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw (FM UW) in cooperation with our law firm.
The course is dedicated to investment advisers, employees of museums, private galleries and auction houses, antiquarians, curators of private collections and people interested in investing in art. Course participants will acquire the knowledge and practical skills required to successfully manage and navigate the art market.
During the course, the legal and financial issues involved in operating in this area will be explored.
The course programme covers two semesters and includes:
- knowledge of the specifics of the market and of individual fields of art,
- management of auction houses, galleries and private collections,
- active and successful participation in international art auctions and fairs,
- building up the value of a work,
- organising exhibitions and working with curators.
The programme is delivered by specialists and practitioners from a number of fields such as management, legal sciences and museology. The course director is Aleksandra Auleytner, an expert in intellectual property law, Partner and Head of DZP's IP&TMT Practice. Legal and tax aspects of the art market will be discussed by Joanna Wierzejska, Partner and Co-Head of the Tax Practice, and Tadeusz Piątek, Counsel in the IP&TMT Practice.
