Practice Areas

Matthew specialises in international commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration and public international law. He has acted as counsel and advocate in many disputes worldwide including under HKIAC, ICC, ICSID, LCIA, SCC and UNCITRAL rules. He has particular experience of disputes relating to energy and infrastructure projects, concessions, financial instruments, joint ventures, distribution agreements, post-M&A matters and construction disputes. Matthew has extensive experience of representing both investors and States in relation to disputes under bilateral investment treaties and the energy charter treaty. Matthew regularly lectures at practitioner conferences and universities worldwide, most recently in Washington DC, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Prague and Tokyo.
