DWT is one of the few large law firms to have an effective, organized cannabis practice. While many DWT attorneys touch on cannabis matters, the Cannabis Industry Group has a dedicated leadership team devoted to continuing to improve and expand the firm’s cannabis practice at a national level. This leadership team intimately understands the cannabis industry, even publishing articles on simple things like using proper industry terminology.

The Cannabis Industry Group focuses on meeting the service needs of cannabis-adjacent businesses (those providing cannabis-related services but not involved in actual growing or distribution), including software companies, equipment providers, financial/payment firms, and media/advertising groups. These firms have very different needs from traditional cannabis growers, and DWT helps them navigate the various risk factors involved in understanding if/how they can legally do business in the cannabis industry.

The Cannabis Industry Group is particularly strong in the areas of commercial litigation and advising/counseling on federal compliance issues.
