The practice focuses on three core areas. In transactions, the firm handles public and private deals across the energy value chain, including joint ventures, investments, financings, and acquisitions and divestitures. In litigation, lawyers represent clients nationwide in significant oil and gas disputes involving issues such as gas flaring, title disputes, nuisance claims, railcar accidents, fracking bans, and natural resource damages under CERCLA. In regulatory matters, Baker Botts regularly appears before FERC, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and state agencies and commissions, as well as federal and state appellate courts, to challenge agency actions and rulings on behalf of clients.
