Global law firm Dentons has appointed Milan-based partner Alessandro Fosco Fagotto as Europe Head of the Banking and Finance practice. In his new role, he will be responsible for enhancing Dentons’ service offering for both lenders and borrowers, facilitating cross-border collaboration, and strengthening relationships with banking clients across continental Europe and Central Asia.

“In an increasingly complex world, our clients are looking to us for sophisticated solutions to their business challenges. We offer a unique value proposition, which combines technical skills, innovation, efficiency and deep knowledge of the financial sector in key markets around the world,” said Fosco Fagotto. “Over the last few years, Dentons has invested in significantly expanding the talent and capabilities of our Banking and Finance practice across Europe. My main focus will be to foster collaboration and develop synergies to deliver the full power and quality of our Firm to our clients.”

Fosco Fagotto has 20 years‘ experience advising lenders, private equity houses, funds, investors and borrowers, on a broad range of financing transactions, including acquisition and leveraged finance, structured finance, real estate finance, general corporate lending and refinancing. He also advises on debt restructuring transactions as well as the financing and acquisition of distressed companies. He serves as lead partner for relationships with some of the largest financial institutions in Italy.

He takes on the role from Mateusz Toczyski, who has stepped down from the European position in order to focus on his clients as well as his role as Global Co-Head of Banking and Finance. During Toczyski’s eight year term, Dentons’ Banking and Finance practice in Europe quadrupled in terms of both revenue and headcount. The practice also expanded its geographic coverage and increased market recognition.

Tomasz Dąbrowski, Europe Chief Executive Officer at Dentons, commented, “Fosco Fagotto is a top notch lawyer, recognized as a true leader in the market. He is an ideal choice to build on the incredible success achieved by the group under Mateusz Toczyski’s leadership, and move our Banking and Finance practice on the continent to the next level.”

Since joining Dentons in 2016, Fosco Fagotto has led the development of a market-leading Banking and Finance practice in Italy. Both he and the practice are ranked in Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000.
