The Growth in Referees Provided Over the Past 10 Years for Chambers Asia Pacific

Every year, the Chambers Asia-Pacific Research and Editorial team works tirelessly to increase and develop our coverage of the legal markets across the region to add additional value to the users of our guide, the purchasers of legal services. Client feedback sits at the heart of everything we do, and we are incredibly grateful that we have continued to see record levels of engagement from law firms and corporates across the continent, despite the impact that COVID-19 has had on all businesses.

This record level of engagement has allowed us to really drive the expansion of our coverage this year, with the Chambers Asia-Pacific 2021 guide highlighting 4,136 legal departments and ranking 7,443 lawyers from leading law firms.

We have put together this interactive graph to highlight the increasing number of referees put forward by law firms in the last 10 years for the Asia-Pacific guide. For us, it is a clear indicator of the depth of research behind every ranking decision we've made this year in our aim to provide the best legal ranking system, reviews and analysis of the major law firms and lawyers in Asia for our global audience.

With increasing numbers of referees put forward and interviews conducted by our dedicated team, we are able to grow our coverage and most importantly, have even greater confidence in the accuracy of our rankings. Since 2012, our legal ranking guide has seen a remarkable 459% increase in the number of referees put forward. Last year alone we saw an additional 15,000 referees being put forward by some of the best law firms in Asia, a 20% year-on-year increase, bringing the overall total to an incredible 86,000+.
