A new appointment for Chambers Canada
The Chambers Canada team is delighted to share news of the appointment of James Roberts in the new position of Head of Research for Canada.
Prior to his move to the Canada team, James spent 4 years as a Research Manager on the UK Solicitors Guide, where he oversaw research for a number of areas, including Energy, Projects, Construction, Healthcare and Telecommunications.
As coverage of the legal market in Canada continues to evolve in the Chambers Canada guide and across our legal rankings of the Canadian legal market, this new appointment will allow us to research more emerging practice areas of the law for future rankings, continue to build on the excellent relationships we have with firms of all sizes across the market and enhance our ability to accurately recognize the proficiency of a wide array of lawyers practising in Canada.
Introducing the new Head of Canada Research at Chambers
James Roberts shares his thoughts on his new position and highlights his career at Chambers below.
My name is James Roberts and I am taking over as the new Head of Canada Research, replacing the outgoing Joanna Lane, who has overseen the Canada Guide since 2014. I joined Chambers & Partners in 2016 as a research analyst on the UK/US team and have been a Research Manager on the UK Solicitors Guide since 2018. My core areas of expertise over that period include Energy & Natural Resources, Mining and Construction.
I am delighted to be taking over from Jo, who has done a fantastic job of running the guide for a number of years now, and am really looking forward to building on her excellent work and continuing to grow and develop our research of the Canadian market in new and exciting ways.
During my time on the UK Solicitors team, I took a keen interest in utilising the vast data reserves Chambers & Partners has access to in order to manage resources efficiently and enhance our coverage of the legal market. I'm excited about the prospect of bringing this expertise to bear on the Canada Guide in order to ensure that our rankings continue to accurately recognise the best law firms and lawyers in the region and are dynamic enough to reflect changes in the various regions and practice areas that we cover.
