Chambers celebrate Internationals Women's Day 2022
March 8th marks the global day of celebration of womanhood in all its forms and in an intersectional manner. Once again at Chambers & Partners we take this opportunity to celebrate women, their achievements, talents and history, and contribute to building a gender equal world, free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination.
"Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias," recites the motto of this year's International Women's Day.
Fully embracing that theme, the Gender Strand of the INSPIRE committee at Chambers together with the Chambers Diversity & Inclusion team are hosting an internal live event for the occasion, which is to be held at the Chambers office in London, titled #BreakTheBias: Fighting bias, stereotypes and discrimination in the legal sector.
Chambers are delighted to welcome I. Stephanie Boyce as a guest speaker for the event. Not only a brilliant solicitor and a powerful advocate for diversity in the legal sector, Stephanie recently made history by becoming the first black President of The Law Society.
We will also be joined by Harriet Wistrich, a highly successful solicitor, a human rights advocate, as well as a founding director of this year's IWHM charity of choice Centre for Women's Justice.
Raising awareness of the #Breakthebias campaign
The Chambers event will include speeches delivered by our panel of guest speakers, as well as a Q&A and networking session with food and drinks. The participants will also have the opportunity to take pictures for our #Breakthebias campaign that will be published on our website and across our digital channels, as well as being able to donate to our IWHM charity of choice Centre for Women's Justice.

The President of the Law Society of England and Wales speaks with Chambers
I.Stephanie Boyce
Stephanie was admitted as a solicitor in 2002 and has a wealth of experience in corporate governance, regulatory frameworks and professional regulation.
Stephanie holds a Master of Laws in public law and global governance from King's College and is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute.
Stephanie is a Council member of the Law Society of England and Wales representing the Women Lawyers Division and Board member of the of the Law Society, a solicitor member of the Joint Tribunal Service and holds a number of statutory appointments with her local authority.
Stephanie has recently been appointed to the HM Treasury and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy commission - an independent taskforce boosting socio-economic diversity at senior levels in financial and professional services.
In 2020 Stephanie was voted on to the Governance Hot 100 - Board Influencer and made the Power List 100 Most Influential Black People in the UK in 2021 and 2022.
Harriet Wistrich
Harriet is a solicitor who worked many years in the renowned civil liberties firm, Birnberg Peirce and Partners. She is the winner of the Liberty Human Rights Lawyer of the Year award 2014, Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year 2018 for public law and Law Society Gazette personality of the year 2019.
She has acted in many high profile cases around violence against women including on behalf of women who challenged the police and parole board in the John Worboys case, women deceived in relationships by undercover police officers and on behalf of women appealing murder convictions for killings abusive partners, most recently Sally Challen. She is founder and director of The Centre for Women's Justice, a multi partner organisation that brings cases holding the state to account in relation to violence against women and girls.
She is also founder member of Justice for Women and trustee of the charity, the Emma Humphreys Memorial Prize.
