The inaugural Chambers Diversity and Inclusion summit

The inaugural Chambers ENGAGE summit, originally planned for March 2020, has been confirmed to take place in May 2022. This full day conference will bring together distinguished and inspirational speakers from across the legal industry to address the most timely and crucial discussions in the fields of D&I, pro bono and sustainability. Bringing together expert solicitors, barristers, in-house counsel and NGOs, each session will provide actionable tips and market-leading expertise.

After ten years researching the advancement of diversity, inclusion and pro bono in the legal profession, as well as recently expanding to include the environment and sustainability, the Chambers D&I team have shaped an event to offer practical advice on how the legal profession can address the key challenges faced by society today.

European Diversity & Inclusion and Pro Bono Summit 2022

Taking place on Thursday, 12th May at etc.venues St Pauls, from 9am to 4.30pm, followed by networking drinks, this is the first time Chambers & Partners has used its cross-market perspective on D&I in the legal industry to convene a full day summit on how the legal sector can be a responsible part of society.

Our carefully selected expert speakers will cover the most current and challenging topics within the space from a variety of perspectives, advising on best practice from the C-suite and law firm partnership to advice for young lawyers seeking to make a change on their journey to leadership.

A unique discussion on Diversity & Inclusion across the legal market

Wherever you and your organisation are on your individual journey with D&I, pro bono and sustainability, we have curated the day so that each session is sure to provide a fascinating deep dive into the topic as well as practical advice for attendees.

Whether it's pro bono in a post crisis world, the importance of governance in the progression of your ESG agenda or the future leaders changing the shape of the legal profession, our panel discussion will provide industry wide insights into these crucial discussions effecting every part of the legal ecosystem. With panelists joining from White & Case, Goldman Sachs, Serle Court, Human Rights Watch, Bank of America, Garden Court Chambers, Reed Smith, Natwest and 7 Bedford Row, ENGAGE brings you only the best and brightest to guide you through these challenging topics.

Our keynote and fireside chat sessions address some of the timeliest societal discussions and how they affect the legal sector: mental health & wellbeing and the ongoing climate crisis. We'll be welcoming George Artley of the IBA to discuss their first of its kind mental health and wellbeing survey across the legal profession and what the IBA have learned since the report's release. Closing out the day will be pioneering climate litigator Ingrid Gubbay, with a rousing call to action on how the legal profession can do more to work together against climate breakdown.

How can law firms can ensure their work and services are inclusive for all

The upheaval of the last few years and the challenges we continue to face in climate breakdown and beyond have left us in a state of perpetual flux, while previously existing inequalities in society have come into a sharper focus. The legal profession is uniquely placed to address these challenges and ensure our future is more certain, secure and inclusive for all people.

Through advancing D&I, providing reliable pro bono advice to the most vulnerable in society and working to make the world more sustainable, the legal profession can be a powerful tool to address the challenges we face. This summit will provide leading guidance on how you, and your organisation, can be part of this.
