Top barrister defends England captain Owen Farrell
England Rugby Captain Owen Farrell had his red card against Wales downgraded to a yellow which will allow him to play in the upcoming Rugby World Cup.
Chambers UK Bar ranked Barrister, Richard Smith KC, of Guildhall Chambers represented Farrell at a video disciplinary hearing.
Farrell had been given a red card in a game against the Welsh side, in which he was accused of committing a shoulder-led challenge against Taine Basham. If the red card was upheld, Farrell faced a six-game ban which would have prevented him from playing in the pool stage games of the World Cup.
The disciplinary panel reviewed the incident and concluded the foul play review officer had made an error in presenting Farrell with a red card.
