Thomas Richter covers all areas of white-collar crime. He has a wealth of experience in investigations relating to financial markets, and he regularly defends clients against allegations of market manipulation, insider trading, money laundering and tax evasion. He is also experienced in bankruptcy and accounting matters, and he has provided effective defence in some highly complex matters of corruption and environmental crime. He regularly provides witness assistance during internal investigations, both national and international.

Apart from representing individuals, he acts on behalf of companies in criminal proceedings and provides legal advice on compliance matters.

Career

Thomas Richter joined HammPartner in 2012. His legal career started at Hengeler Mueller, where he was also seconded to Roschier Attorneys in Helsinki. During his clerkship he worked in the New York office of Shearman & Sterling. He studied at the universities of Münster, Edinburgh, Heidelberg and Augsburg (PhD).

Publications

Thomas Richter is a frequent author in leading journals, commentaries and practitioner's handbooks. He has been awarded a PhD for his dissertation on "Criminal Liability for Market Manipulation under the European Market Abuse Regime" which has been published at NOMOS (open access) in 2022.
