Richard is the Head of Technology & Innovation, US. He has over 20 years of experience defending clients across the country and helping companies protect, license, monetize, and enforce their intellectual property rights. With an electrical engineering background, his work focuses on telecommunications, wireless, computer, semiconductor, e-commerce, Internet, and disruptive technologies. He has handled jury, International Trade Commission, arbitration, and Patent Trial & Appeal Board cases; served as coordination counsel for MDL and large consolidated patent proceedings; represented multiple defendants in complex litigation involving common issues, claims, and defenses; handled significant global matters involving industry standards, IPR policies, and related issues of patent essentiality, FRAND, and competition law; and worked closely with technical, financial, and industry experts to respond to regulators’ RFIs and claims. Richard’s broad-based transactional experience includes representation of intellectual property holders, acquirers, and licensors in the resolution of intellectual property disputes and the preparation and negotiation of patent licenses, intellectual property acquisition agreements, and technology transfers.
