Mahmoud Shaarawy of the HSA Group
Shaarawy started his career at the Egyptian Government’s Ministry of Administrative Development, before joining full-service law firm Eldib Advocates as a senior associate. He also spent time working in-house for American software giant Oracle and leading telecommunications company Alkan CIT before joining Elsewedy Electric in 2010.
His swift rise through the organisation saw him occupy the position of senior legal counsel and group head legal department before being appointed group legal director in 2010. In the latter position Shaarawy oversaw a team of 25 lawyers serving 96 companies both in Egypt and internationally.
In the first half of 2021 he took up a new position as chief legal and compliance officer with the HSA Group.
One interviewee described him as “one of the brightest minds I have ever met.”
