Jan Dreyer is a partner of Dabelstein & Passehl (to be merged as of 1 May 2018 into Arnecke Sibeth Dabelstein), a leading boutique law firm for maritime commercial law in Hamburg/Germany. Jan advises on all aspects of maritime law, marine insurance law, ship finance and offshore energy projects. His clients include shipowners, insurers, shipyards, suppliers and banks. Jan has a strong litigation and arbitration practice and has acted as arbitrator in numerous case. He served as a Managing Partner of the firm from 2013 to 2017.
Career
After having been trained as banker Jan studied law at the Universities of Freiburg and Hamburg from 1980 – 1985. He was admitted to the Hamburg Bar in 1989 and joined an international law firm before he became in-house counsel of the German shipyard Blohm + Voss in 1993. Jan joined the Hamburg law firm Dabelstein & Passehl in 1996 where he became a partner in 1998.
