Gaurav is a barrister who specialises in energy matters and international arbitration. He regularly appears before courts and arbitral tribunals in disputes in the renewable and natural resources sectors of the industry, and also sits as an arbitrator.
Before joining Quadrant Chambers, Gaurav was a senior litigator at Shell, where he acted as counsel in some of the group’s most significant international disputes. He also spent a number of years at the leading firms Debevoise & Plimpton and 3C in London and Paris where he appeared as an advocate in numerous important upstream and midstream disputes including under Production Sharing Agreements, in Gas and LNG Price Reviews and contractual disputes in the wind and solar industries.
Gaurav was called to the Bar in 2006. A fluent French speaker, he qualified as an ‘Avocat à la Cour’ in 2008 after taking the Paris Bar exams. He is currently a member of the ICC UK’s Subcommittee on Arbitrator Appointments and was previously a member of the IBA’s Investment Arbitration Subcommittee. Gaurav is a published author on the practice and law of arbitration, including contributing a chapter in Kluwer’s 2022 hardback ‘International Arbitration in England: Perspectives in Times of Change’, and has appeared as a guest lecturer on investment arbitration at King’s College London’s School of Law.
