Doug is a nationally-recognized trial and appellate lawyer who is considered "one of the preeminent litigators in New Jersey" (Chambers USA). His practice focuses on complex civil litigation, including securities fraud, antitrust, consumer fraud, class actions, and derivative litigation. He has represented high-profile public officials, including the chief justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court and the governor of New Jersey.
Respected as an intelligent and creative advocate who delivers for his clients in critical, complex "make or break" cases, Doug is committed to client focus and service beyond just his clients' litigation needs, extending into strategic consultation and advice.
An active member of his community, Doug chaired the board of the national Legal Services Corporation for more than nine years. He currently serves as trustee of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice and as trustee of Legal Services of New Jersey. A former Rhodes Scholar and First Assistant Attorney General of the state of New Jersey, Doug is the Alan V. Lowenstein Professor of Corporate and Business Law at Rutgers Law School, where he teaches courses in business organizations, corporate governance, and compliance & enterprise risk management. He is also the founder and co-director of the Rutgers Center for Corporate Law and Governance and the Rutgers Law School Entrepreneurship Clinic.
