Carmen Núñez-Lagos is an experienced international independent arbitrator based in Paris. She is a Spanish Government appointee to the ICSID panel of arbitrators.
She has acted for more than 34 years as counsel and arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings on behalf of private companies, and on behalf of States and States-related entities, including investment cases. She has an extensive experience as an international business lawyer in first-tier international law firms.
Ms Núñez-Lagos was a Partner at Hogan Lovells International law firm in Paris until 2019 and has established since then her own practice in Paris to act as an international arbitrator. Ms Núñez-Lagos has an extensive activity as an arbitrator in infrastructure projects, energy, telecommunications and environment law, under the rules of the main arbitral institutions as well as in investment and sports arbitration. She has acted as an arbitrator in over 100 arbitrations.
She is listed on the roster of arbitrators for the ICSID, ICC, ICDR, LCIA, CAS, among others.
Ms Núñez-Lagos is a member of the Council of the ICC World Business Institute and member of its admission committee; member of the Arbitration Court of the Swiss Arbitration Center; member of the Consiglio arbitrale of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration; member of the Selection committee of arbitrators at the Madrid Court of Arbitration.
She is Vice-President of CEIA (Spanish Arbitration Club), and member of the Council of the Francarbi association.
She was a Member of the drafting committee for the ICC Task Force on Arbitration involving states and state entities and of the Emergency arbitrators’ proceedings committee and of the IBA Task Force on Arbitrating Small Value Claims in Investment Arbitration (Drafting Committee).
Ms Nuñez-Lagos holds a Master’s degree from the University of Exeter (UK). She is qualified in France and Spain and fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian.
