On the privacy, cybersecurity and data management side, Cameron counsels public sector, health industry and emerging and well-established companies on data protection and management, data privacy, and cyber-security matters. In 2022, he earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), a prestigious credential that demonstrates specialized expertise of Canadian information privacy laws, principles and practices at the federal, provincial and territorial levels.

Clients benefit from Cameron’s in-depth and robust knowledge in the technology sector, where he spent several years advising private and public sector clients of Canada’s top IT solutions providers on data centre, security, networking, client hardware and software, and cloud solutions, as well as managed services. In that capacity, he earned a Microsoft Certified Professional accreditation in licensing. Furthermore, Cameron has trained machine learning and natural language processing algorithms while working at a leading Canadian AI software company. Cameron draws on this experience and expertise to prepare and negotiate technology related agreements, including Cloud Agreements (SaaS, PaaS an IaaS), Master Services and Professional Services Agreements, Partner, Distributor and Reseller Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Software Development Agreements, Terms of Use and Service, and Domain Name Agreements.

Cameron advises clients regarding compliance with advertising and marketing law, including influencer marketing, social media marketing, telephone, email and mobile marketing and contests, as well counseling with respect to the requirements of Canada’s unsolicited telecommunications rules and anti-spam legislation. Additionally, Cameron counsels payment industry sector clients regarding their compliance with anti-money laundering and terrorist financing laws and the supervision of the retail payments sector.

A respected thought leader, Cameron has published on emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and their legal ramifications, including the ethical considerations for businesses using AI and intellectual property challenges of developing machine learning based artificial intelligence software. He also contributed to the American Bar Association’s Director's Technology Handbook: Tips and Strategies for Advising Corporate Directors.
