AREAS OF PRACTICE
Personal Injury incl. Clinical Negligence: 92%
Group Litigation & Professional Negligence: 8%
PRINCIPAL AREAS OF WORK:
Road Traffic Accidents:
The firm is widely known for its vast experience in securing compensation for clients who have been the victims of road traffic accidents. All those who have been injured in non-fault accidents can draw on the knowledge and experience of the established team at Your Legal Friend. Cases have involved clients with life changing catastrophic injuries and amputations, including a motorcyclist who was awarded £1.6m compensation after a successful case was brought by the RTA team at Your Legal Friend. In 2018 one of the RTA lawyers at Your Legal Friend successfully gained accreditation as an APIL Senior Litigator, demonstrating the professionalism and knowledge in the department.
The firm is increasingly recognised today for its growing clinical negligence practice. There are now eight APIL Senior Litigators within the clinical negligence team. Two of those lawyers are also accredited by The Law Society as expert clinical negligence practitioners. The firm handles all types of clinical negligence compensation claims. Notable cases include failure to diagnose cancer and heart problems, surgical negligence, amputations, birth injuries, wrongful sterilisation, orthopaedic errors and GP negligence. The team has specialist expertise in this highly complex area of personal injury law and is dedicated to securing clients the compensation they deserve.
Employers & Public Liability Personal Injury:
This area of the firm focusses on securing compensation for clients who have been injured through accidents at work which may include falls from height such as scaffolding or ladders, manual handling incidents, slips trips and falls or accidents involving dangerous machinery which may not have been properly tested or operated. The department also offers specialist legal advice to clients who have found themselves injured after a slip, trip or fall in a public place.
The team successfully represents clients who have become ill through their work with HAVS, VWF, NIHL, tinnitus and occupational asthma. It also represents clients and their families who have developed an asbestos related disease due to negligent exposure during their working lives. In 2017 the firm added to the team with an APIL Senior Litigator, further bolstering the specialist advice available from the firm.
The team has significant experience in claiming compensation for holiday makers who have become ill or injured on holiday. Specialist travel lawyers investigate claims to provide medical evidence that a holiday maker was left ill or injured due to the negligent action of the defendant. One of team’s most experienced lawyers is a member of PEOPIL (Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers).
Group Litigation & Professional Negligence:
The firm is an innovator in the field of multi-party litigation and is currently conducting a large and complex claim into misleading financial announcements made by Quindell PLC, now Watchstone Group where a group of over 1000 investors believe they suffered significant losses through their reliance on those announcements.
It is also conducting a group of over 80 connected professional negligence cases linked to investments in a failed student property development in Leicester.
