General Counsel: Philip Holden

Overview & History:

Asertis is one of the UK’s fastest growing litigation funders, with a deep rooted understanding of complex commercial and insolvency disputes. The team combines financial experts with experienced lawyers, who take a bespoke approach to the funding needs of their clients. Asertis eliminates the financial risk for its clients and maximises their potential for success.

Asertis specialises in third party funding across a range of commercial disputes including general commercial litigations and arbitrations, group actions, as well as litigation finance for disputes relating to a number of areas including infrastructure, corporate and intellectual property. Asertis also funds insolvency litigations and deals with insolvent estates.

Asertis’s litigation funding decisions are made quickly and at their own discretion. Asertis is funded by Arrow Credit Opportunities SCSp and related investing entities. Arrow is a leading European fund investing in distressed and other assets with total capital commitment of c.€1.7 billion. Asertis is also financed by funds managed by AB CarVal, a global alternative investment manager with more than $14 billion AUM. Through its funding line from Arrow and AB CarVal, Asertis has the potential funding to consider funding litigation on a significant scale.

In partnering with law firms and claimants to realise value, the team can readily deploy capital, with every third party funding request being evaluated at speed.

The team at Asertis has a personal, yet commercial philosophy, viewing cases differently from other litigation funders. Considering each client’s case carefully on its own merits, Asertis takes individual circumstances into account when validating their third party funding decisions.
