Primary Caregiver - Including but not limited to caregivers with sole or the majority of parental responsibility or care responsibilities for a child, adult family member or partner. The care provided is unpaid.

˜Secondary Caregiver - Including but not limited to caregivers with a supporting role in parental responsibility or care responsibilities for a child, adult family member or partner. The care provided is unpaid.

Health-related absence - Including but not limited to a chronic or long-term health condition that lasts for the period of 6 months or longer. Health-related absence include the mental and physical health and wellbeing of an individual. The individual does not necessarily need to have a disability as defined under The Equality Act 2010.

This policy includes all absent leave including but not limited to primary and secondary caregivers and leave of absence for health reasons.

1. We encourage all submitting individuals and sets to declare this information in the submission form by filling out the relevant column on the submission form with the individuals name and whether they are a Primary Caregiver, Secondary Caregiver or on Health-related absence. No further information is required. This information will always be treated sensitively and confidentially.

2. An individual will retain their banded ranking during the period of related absence for the following duration:

2(a) Primary caregiver: 2 years

2(b) Secondary caregiver: 1 year

2(c) Health-related absence: 1 year minimum and dependent on further information provided by the individual or set.

3. Chambers and Partners may request further information if necessary and will provide this request in writing to the individual and/or set.

4. In extenuating circumstances or those not specifically covered in the policy above, Chambers and Partners will review any further requests on a case-by-case basis when either lodged by an individual or set. The review will be conducted internally by members of Chambers and Partners and an update will be provided within 30 days in writing.
