Francisco J. Cerezo, Chair of US-Latin America Practice, DLA Piper

Francisco Cerezo is the firm's Chair of the US-Latin America practice and Chair of the Latin America Corporate & Finance. He focuses his practice on corporate and international matters, advising US and foreign companies, private equity funds, family groups and sovereigns doing business globally and with a focus in the Americas and the Caribbean.  He has extensive experience in corporate and financial services, cross-border transactions, strategic corporate counseling, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and public-private partnerships. He regularly counsels global companies and private equity funds doing business in the Americas on matters ranging from complex transactions and market entry issues to compliance and general corporate strategic counsel.  Francisco also serves as principal outside counsel to several significant family groups on matters ranging from corporate governance and succession planning to representing their underlying portfolio companies in billions of dollars of transactions, ranging from banking and energy to telecom and retail.

Giannina Marin, VP & General Counsel, HispAm at American Tower Corporation

Giannina Marin is Vice President & General Counsel for HispAm at American Tower Corporation (ATC). She oversees all legal matters in ATC's 7 markets in Hispanic America, including commercial, compliance, labor, litigation and mergers and acquisitions, among others. Marin works closely with the execute teams across all functions to further the ATC business consistent with corporate goals and company policies. Marin also serves as Co-Chair for Latin America for ATC’s employee resource group for women. Marin joined ATC in 2014 as Senior Corporate Counsel for Latin America and was responsible for liaising with market teams to advise on commercial transactions and furthering deal review and approvals and corporate compliance. Prior to joining ATC, Marin practiced law in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with the law firm of McAfee & Taft, PC and later the Miami office of the law firm of Holland & Knight, LLP, where, focusing in the healthcare industry, Marin advised clients on complex healthcare regulatory, compliance and licensing matters, as well as represented both healthcare and non-healthcare clients in mergers and acquisitions. Prior to leaving private practice, Marin was recognized in the Rising Stars List of the Oklahoma and Florida Super Lawyers publications. Marin graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology with a minor in Italian. Marin received her J.D. with honors from the University of Florida, where she was a member of the University of Florida Law Review.

Gerry Tores, Senior Legal Counsel, Pandora Americas

Gerry has over 15 years of experience practicing in Latin America both in the energy industry and the consumer products industry. He’s currently a Senior Legal Counsel, Director at Pandora Jewelry (the largest jewelry company in the world) managing Pandora’s legal issues in Latin America and supporting part of the US/Canada business for Pandora. He’s been with Pandora for the last 4 years and has been part of the team that has overseen a growth trajectory of over 200% in Latin America for Pandora. Prior to Pandora, Gerry managed a group of lawyers at Siemens Energy that oversaw the legal responsibility for new power plant development projects throughout Latin America. Gerry currently lives in Orlando, FL with his wife and two dogs (Alfie and Zari) while commuting between Baltimore and Panama for Pandora’s business.

For example, he started his professional career in leading technology and telecommunications companies in the USA and subsequently held leadership positions for over 20 years as a Partner in world-class Management Consulting Firms, a Partner in charge of Markets, and a member of the Global Management Steering Group. In December 2016, he founded IGMOTION LLC (Innovation for Growth in Motion) in partnership with ex-Colleagues/Partners from strategy houses such as McKinsey and Corporations. From that moment, the boutique firm achieved sustainable growth.

Jonathan Block, Latin America Research Director

Jonathan joined Chambers in 2015 as a Researcher on the Latin America team before being promoted to Senior Researcher, Assistant Editor and finally Deputy Editor in charge of Mexico, Central America and Latin America-wide. He has previously completed work experiences in the legal and real estate sectors. Jonathan graduated in Politics from the University of Nottingham and has completed postgraduate studies in Law. He is fluent in Spanish and speaks conversational French and Hebrew.
