Overview

Yulchon’s Insolvency & Restructuring Practice Team is young, vibrant and diverse, rapidly growing in reputation and clientele. The team is comprised of expert members with individual specialties across a wide range of legal practices and industry sectors, such as Corporate, M&A, Finance, Tax and Dispute Resolution sectors, including cross-border deals and dispute matters involving various countries worldwide.
Thanks to its diversity, closely tied network among different practice groups and local connections all over the globe, the team is gaining reputation for its creative knowledge and collective strategy. It is no wonder Yulchon was named the Financial Times’ “Most Innovative Law Firm of the Year” in June 2015 and 2016, consecutively, and Chambers & Partners’ “South Korea Law Firm of the Year” in March, 2017 for several innovative transactions including Hyundai Merchant Marine’s restructuring deal in 2016. This Hyundai Marchant Marine (“HMM”) restructuring deal was one of the biggest restructuring deal in 2016, both domestically and internationally. Yulchon participated in laying down a strategy from the initial stages and advised in all respects of the corporate restructuring, including restructuring of public bonds, change of terms of loans obtained from financial institutions, reduction of charter hire payable under charter parties and conversion of debt, including exchange bonds issued by HMM, into equity.
