Waselius' banking and finance department is a market leader on advising major international participants in the banking and finance sector in their cross-border dealings in Finland. The practice covers all aspects of banking and financing, such as bank and syndicated loan facilities, secured lending, acquisition financing, ABL transactions, securitisations, structured finance, project finance and cross-border leasing transactions, as well as asset financing for aircraft, real estate, vessels and other capital assets. Advising banks in refinancing/restructuring is an important part of this practice. The team excels in demanding cross-border scenarios and structuring of bespoke transactions. 

The banking and finance department is joint with the capital markets department, which enables lawyers in the practice to work seamlessly on finance and debt capital markets transactions and ensures that they are well versed in capital markets regulatory issues.

The department also routinely advises market participants on regulatory issues on establishment of and providing services by banks, investment firms, investment funds, insurance companies and intermediaries and other financial institutions as well as payment institutions, stock exchanges, settlement and payment systems and consumer lenders.
