About

Provided by Sullivan & Cromwell LLP

Precedent-Setting Work. Throughout our decades of work in the region, the Firm has shepherded many of the largest and first-of-their-kind energy, natural resources and infrastructure projects, mitigating and managing risk for sponsors and lenders under difficult market and political conditions.

Complex, Multi-Source Financed Projects. We bring challenging projects with complex multi-source finance plans to a successful financial close. The average size of S&C’s total project financings in Latin America amounts to nearly $1 billion (close to half of our financings globally), and more than half are valued at over $750 million. We engage with the region’s most important and novel energy, natural resource and infrastructure projects from all angles, including through our M&A, joint venture and other financing work.

Unique Sponsor/Borrower Orientation. We have a uniquely sponsor/borrower-focused practice, with nearly 80 percent of our work advising these types of clients on the full spectrum of development and financing matters, ranging from shareholder and joint venture arrangements, to host government agreements and the development and execution of a finance plan. Because most of S&C's project financings (in Latin America and worldwide) involve multiple sponsors, we understand the importance of addressing the separate commercial concerns and economic objectives of each sponsor within a consortium.
